Devastation While on Vacation

Devastation While on Vacation

I recently heard from a friend who had just gotten back from Maui, Hawaii. He was vacationing there when the fires struck. Him and his family were fortunate to have survived the deadly fires while others were not so lucky.

Needless to say, I was relieved to hear my friend and his family made it back home in one piece. But it got me thinking about what would have happened if I was on vacation and something horrific like that occurred. The devastation those fires brought on is just so unimaginable. I have been to different parts of Maui, and it is heartbreaking to know that beautiful Lahaina has been destroyed.  I thought about how fragile and short life is. I thought about various scenarios of what life might be like if I was no longer around, and what my family might have to endure. Although it is a morbid topic, I have to say I am relieved to know that I did set up a will years ago where I documented my final wishes. I sleep better knowing that my family knows where to find my last wishes.
